Zac's Story
Our family has been serving the public since 1946. My grandfather, Clifford Gronda, owned and operated a barber shop in Michigan in the Township of Grosse Ile Island. Later his son, Michael Gronda, started working and continues to manage Mike's Barber Shop in Harriman, Tennessee. I graduated from Shear Academy in 2002 and worked under my father for 4 years. On April 30, 2007, I opened Zac's Barber Shop in Rockwood, Tennessee.
The History of the location of Zac's Barber Shop dates back to the early 1940's when Johnny Martin owned and operated "Service Barber Shop" in the building where Zac's is now located. He built his business to employee 4 barbers, 2 shoe shiners and himself.
The Service Barber Shop offered traditional barber shop services, such as face shaves, scalp treatments, shoe shining, showers, and (of course) the latest gossip in town. I have also heard stories of men sneaking into the back room of the barber shop to take a sip of the local moonshine and play some cards with the guys. Over the years different business came and went at this location, but it now serves the public again as Zac's Barber Shop.
Whether you're looking for a haircut, a face shave, or just a good conversation, I hope you'll stop by and visit Zac's Barber Shop soon. Thanks for visiting my web site. Hope to see you in person soon.
